Introduction

GedcomRenumber allows you to renumber the identifiers of persons (individuals), families, sources, repositories, media, notes, and information about the identity of the person who produced the data in a GEDCOM file while preserving the consistency of links (relationships).

Prerequisites

This application runs on Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 10 and Windows 11.

The languages available are:

  • French, English and German: for use.
  • French and English: for installation and documentation (on this website).

It is recommended that you have at least a PC equipped with:

  • an Intel I3 or AMD Ryzen 4 processor (or equivalent) and at least 4GB of RAM.
  • at least 200MB of hard disk space (space used on the disk excluding GEDCOM files and any media).

    • Support for tags described in the GEDCOM 5.5.1 standard: NOTE.

    • Use of the software in German.

  • Improvements:

    • Ability to change the name of the generated GEDCOM file.

    • Display of progress in percentage and number of lines.

  • Correction:

    • Correction to the first number used.

    • Correction to the numbers displayed in the results window.
