How to use Genealogical Data Analysis?

This page explains how to use Genealogical Data Analysis.

Export your data from your genealogy application

Genealogical Data Analysis uses data from your genealogy application(s). You must therefore export your genealogy data in GEDCOM format so that Genealogical Data Analysis can read it.

Remarque
Genealogical Data Analysis does not allow you to enter or modify data.

Install the application

To use Genealogical Data Analysis, you need to install the application on a computer (desktop or laptop) that meets the prerequisites.

Activate the application license

The license you have been granted must be “activated”: the first time you launch the application, you will be asked to enter the activation key assigned to you when you downloaded the application.

Note
License activation is required to evaluate the application.

Using the application

First, add one or more GEDCOM files to the list of tracked GEDCOM files. Genealogical Data Analysis will then be able to identify GEDCOM files that have been updated (by a new export from your application).

For each GEDCOM file, you need to perform a file analysis. Several analyses can be performed for the same GEDCOM file. This allows you to measure the progress of your work.

You can then consult each analysis and display the results explorer, which presents the information in the form of a hierarchical list. You can also carry out searches based on the analysis performed: duplicates, ascendants, descendants and isolated individuals.

Genealogical Data Analysis comes with a host of options that allow you to tailor its behavior to your preferences.
