Explore analysis results

The results explorer displays detailed information for an analysis performed on a GEDCOM file.

The Genealogical Data Analysis Results Explorer is a powerful tool that displays the extensive information obtained during the analysis of the GEDCOM file or added during the construction of the displayed list

To display the results explorer :

  • Select an analysis in the results window.
  • You can then :
    • use the [Explore results] button,
    • or right-click on the list and select the “Explore detailed results” option.
Remarque
You can also display this window from the search windows (duplicates, ascendants, descendants, isolated individuals) using the banner button: .
Tip
This window lets you use the banner buttons to open other windows without having to return to the analysis list. The window will only be closed again if you use the “Close” button in this window or in the window from which it was opened

The hierarchical list

The results explorer displays information in a hierarchical form:

  • the first level is the category level. Two categories are displayed: individuals and families.
  • the second level corresponds to the entities displayed: individuals or families.

The levels of the hierarchical list can be “folded” or “unfolded” using the pictogram or the buttons at the bottom of the window.

Individuals

Individuals are indicated by the pictogram.

For individuals, the explorer displays the main events in the person’s life: birth, baptism, marriage(s), death and funeral. Events correspond to the third level of the list.

For each event, the explorer displays information using a visual code:

  • If the information is satisfactory, the explorer displays the pictogram at the beginning, and the line is shown in blue.
  • If the information is missing or inconsistent, the explorer begins with the pictogram and the line is shown in red.
  • If the information is erroneous, the explorer starts with the pictogram and the line is shown in white on a red background.

The explorer counts and displays the number of information, alerts and errors at the bottom of the window.

Remarque
Genealogical Data Analysis uses the values specified in the options to define whether the value is consistent or not(Cf. options)
Births

Births are indicated by the pictogram .

For births, the explorer indicates :

  • the date and place of the event,
  • source(s) of information
  • the identity of the parents (if known),
  • their respective ages at the time of the event
  • and whether this age is consistent.
Baptisms

Baptisms are indicated by the pictogram .

For baptisms, the explorer indicates :

Marriages

The explorer displays marriages in hierarchical form, with :

  • spouse’s identity,
  • date and place of marriage,
  • source(s) of information,
  • age at marriage,
  • known descendants of this marriage,

Marriages are not sorted by Genealogical Data Analysis. They therefore appear in the order in which they appear in the analyzed GEDCOM file.

  • the identity of each spouse,

Filter results displayed by the explorer

The hierarchical list can contain a very large number of lines. The explorer allows you to filter the information displayed for easier use.

There are two ways to filter the data displayed by the explorer:

  • by filtering the data displayed by the explorer,
  • by filtering the data read by the explorer.

These two methods are cumulative. Filters on the display complement filters on the data read.

Filtering data displayed by the explorer

Genealogical Data Analysis – Results explorer – Filters

You can also filter the results displayed by :

  • hierarchical levels,
  • events,
  • results obtained.

These filters are cumulative. For example, you can display only the errors found on marriages.

Tip
Display filters can be memorized(see Options). They will apply to each use. These choices can still be modified while using the explorer

Filter data read by the explorer

The explorer can partially display analyzed data.

Genealogical Data Analysis - Explorateur des résultats - Choix des données à afficher
Genealogical Data Analysis – Results explorer – Choosing which data to display

This choice is made in the options(Cf. options) before displaying the explorer window to indicate whether the explorer should :

  • display all data,
  • or not display events without information,
  • or not display individuals without information.
Remarque
Not displaying events without information reduces the number of lines displayed. However, this may mask the fact that no information is available for this event

Print or export explorer results

Once the data has been displayed in the explorer, you can print the resulting list or export it in Word or Excel format.

To do this, use the [Print results] button.
